The ocean views never get old

Esto es paraíso,” or “This is paradise,” must be a common feeling when staying at an all-inclusive. This is how I felt anyway when I opened my room’s curtain at Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort. What did I see when I opened the curtain? A beautiful beach just seven floors down and a few steps away, set upon the Caribbean Sea in seemingly endless shades of blue. As far as views go, I was unsure it could get any better.

Eat and Experience

RosaNegra is a five-minute drive down Kukulcan Boulevard from Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe. The Latin American restaurant’s dimly lit, verdant setting is balanced by its lively ambiance, with a resident DJ and fire shows.

Even more frequent than the attention-grabbing fire shows are the mini-shows that went on throughout the dinner; for example, buying a full round of shots or a whole bottle of alcohol for your table will get you a lot more than a server with a shot tray—picture several women in red dresses cheering with sparklers in hand as a row of shots is brought out on a log tray.

Several of the group dining experiences were complemented by singers at Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe and Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya (which was followed up by a contortionist performance) who sang traditional Mexican songs, like “La Llorona,” and serenatas mexicanas (Mexican serenades) like “Serenata Tapatía.”

If you’re looking for something on property, Maxal, a Mexican restaurant shared across all three Hilton all-inclusive properties we visited and several others, is an exceptional bet. With options like beef short rib courses, several types of tacos (fish, shrimp and octopus) and chocolate cake, there’s plenty to try.

The guests in front of me at Noriku at Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe on the property’s sixth floor (right next door to La Luce) were witness to a live teppanyaki cooking show. The interactive aspect of the show really came into play when the chef began throwing small balls of rice toward the “audience,” who met the challenge with bobbing heads and open mouths.

Stay

The room I stayed in at Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort was one of 540, which fill eight towers. These beachfront rooms are just one viewpoint that overlooks the sea. Others include Vela, the property’s buffet-style restaurant; Chala Sky Bar, where you can catch live entertainment at night; and Seasalt, the property’s poolside restaurant and bar.

Two amenities at the 715-room Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort appealed to different sides of me. For the child in me, La Churrería, which serves churros and ice cream until 10 p.m., intrigued me greatly; the adult me was drawn to the property’s amphitheater. When I visited, they were getting ready to show Michael Jackson’s documentary, This Is It.

When standing in the porte cochere of the 735-room Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort, guests have a direct view of the Caribbean Sea through the property’s open, airy lobby. Its guest rooms are split among 12 two-story villas spread along the property, to which guests can be shuttled.

Meet

Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe offers 2,000 sq. ft. of outdoor and indoor meeting space, including a 70-person meeting room on its 14th floor and a garden and sundeck.

Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya is home to Tulum’s only convention center, which features more than 55,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor event space, including a 9,000-square-foot outdoor terrace.

Hilton Cancun features nearly 70,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor event space. Your next group can enjoy the property’s outdoor terrace, or watch one of the property’s public events (I caught a silent dance party during my visit) from the property’s oceanfront 1,640-square-foot parlor suite balcony.
