Barry Brown Named Vice President of Sales & Marketing at The Broadmoor

Barry Brown is joining The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as vice president of sales & marketing. He will oversee all sales and marketing for The Broadmoor resort and its growing Wilderness Experience portfolio, including The Ranch at Emerald Valley, Cloud Camp, Fishing Camp and Seven Falls.

Brown’s career spans more than 30 years. He was most recently regional director of sales and marketing for KSL Resorts, where he oversaw Hotel del Coronado, Beach Village at The Del, and La Costa Resort and Spa. Prior to that, he served as director of sales and marketing for the Hotel Del Coronado. He has also held senior sales and marketing positions at Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa, Marco Beach Ocean Resort, The Registry Resort-Naples and The Ritz-Carlton Company. Brown was awarded “Resort Marketer of the Year” in 2011, and recognized as one of the “Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing” in 2009.


Paul Burke

Atlantis, Paradise Island Appoints Paul Burke President, Managing Director

Paul Burke, chief operating officer of Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas, has been promoted to president and managing director. Burke has been with Atlantis since 2011.

A hospitality industry veteran with more than three decades of experience, Burke was previously executive vice president/ principal of Noble Investment Group. He has also worked for Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and ITT Sheraton Corporation.

“My new position at Atlantis is something I have worked towards my entire career, and all of my previous professional experience has prepared me for this role,” said Burke, who holds an undergraduate degree from Concordia College in New York and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.


Nik Rytterstrom

MGM Resorts International Promotes Nik Rytterstrom to GM of Luxor

MGM Resorts International has promoted Nik Rytterstrom to general manager of Luxor Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Rytterstrom most recently served as general manager of the company’s Goldstrike Casino Resort in Tunica, Miss. Rytterstrom will replace Renee West, an industry leader and the first woman to be named president of a Las Vegas Strip property. She is retiring April 24.

Rytterstrom has more than 15 years of hospitality industry experience, beginning at MGM Resorts when he was hired in 1999 as assistant hotel manager at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. He has also worked at The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss. He is a graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

“Nik has successfully driven initiatives to achieve the highest market share in Goldstrike’s history for three consecutive years. He was also responsible for substantially increasing employee engagement, guest service, quality assurance and corporate citizenship. We are happy to welcome him to Luxor,” said Corey Sanders, chief operating officer of MGM Resorts International.


Marcus Ito

Marcus Ito Named Trump Waikiki’s Director of Sales & Marketing

Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk on Oahu has promoted Marcus Ito to director of sales & marketing. He was part of the pre-opening team of Trump Waikiki nearly six years ago. Previously, Ito served the dual role as director of leisure sales for Trump Waikiki, as well as global sales director –Asia Pacific for Trump Hotel Collection. He has also worked for Wyndham Vacation Resorts in Honolulu, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on Maui and at Halekulani and Starwood Hawaii.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Ito is a graduate of the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies.

“Marcus has done an outstanding job growing the crucial Asia Pacific segment of our business since opening,” said Scott Ingwers, managing director. “His ability to cultivate strong client relationships, coupled with his ability to manage and deliver on client expectations, have played a very large role in our sales success to date.”


Krystal Moreno

Krystal Moreno Named Associate Director of Catering

Santa Monica’s Hotel Casa del Mar and its sister property, Shutters on the Beach, has named Krystal Moreno associate director of catering. Moreno, a certified wedding coordinator, has almost 10 years of hospitality experience in planning and executing major functions at hotel and event venues throughout California. She has worked at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica and The Queen Mary, a 1936 luxury ocean liner docked in Long Beach.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Certification Minor in non-profit management from San Francisco State University. She is a native of Orange County.

 


Jadan Sheive

JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes Appoints Jadan Sheive Executive Chef

Jadan Sheive, a 10-year veteran of JW Marriott, has been appointed executive chef of JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes. Chef Sheive returns to the property after being part of the 2003 grand opening team at Primo by Melissa Kelly, a restaurant on the property. He will oversee all culinary operations at the 1,000-room JW Marriott, including several restaurants, banquet operations, Whisper Creek Farm and the soon-to-open Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen.

A native of Maine, Sheive has worked at Chef Kelly’s flagship Primo in Rockland, Maine, JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, and JW Marriott Hangzhou and JW Marriott Beijing in China. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a member of the American Culinary Federation.


Mariano Vegel

JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes Appoints Mariano Vegel Chef de Cuisine

Mariano Vegel has been named chef de cuisine at Primo by Melissa Kelly, JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes’ farm-to-fork restaurant. Chef Vegel has been with JW Marriott Orlando since 2006. A native of Argentina, he has worked at Citron, the resort’s casual dining restaurant, as well as Primo, Quench pool bar and JW Marriott Orlando’s lobby lounge Sushi Bar. He holds a degree in Culinary Arts from the Argentine Institute of Gastronomy.

The InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco has appointed Michael Quan as area director of IT. Quan has more than 15 years of experience in information technology and business management.
