Fort Lauderdale Enhancing Hotels and Airports

Two new meetings hotels, renovations at many existing properties and extensive airport upgrades are in the works in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The new $147 million, 349-room Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will open in the summer and feature seven restaurants/bars, and 30,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space. Also, the 290-room beachfront Conrad Fort Lauderdale Resort (formerly a Trump property), which is slated to open this year, is undergoing more than $34 million in upgrades including a Conrad Spa, swimming pool and an oceanfront restaurant. It will provide 14,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Among the significant renovations, a $5 million revamp of the Pelican Grand Beach Resort is underway, adding a penthouse with an oceanview terrace, a full-service spa overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and an oceanview ballroom.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport also is in the midst of an upgrade, which will include a new runway, new restaurants and concourse, renovated terminals and a skywalk designed by a local artist.
