Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort, a 314-room luxury property with more than 15,000 sq. ft. of outdoor and indoor meeting space, opened this week in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
The property, the first Grand Hyatt in Mexico, is situated along the Caribbean Sea in one of the world’s most famous beach towns and offers easy access to shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
Sordo Madaleno, a Mexican architecture group, designed the Quintana Roo resort, which features open-air features that blend modern design with Mayan-inspired textures and materials.
Ideal for incentive trips and retreats, the southeastern Mexico resort offers 314 spacious guest rooms, including 36 suites with balconies or terraces overlooking the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean Sea or the section of uniquely preserved mangrove jungle, which serves as a natural wildlife sanctuary.
The meeting space includes a 5,768-square-foot grand ballroom with 20-foot ceilings, and 18 meeting rooms, with all but one offering natural light. The events team partners with planners to customize meetings, seminars, conferences, conventions and other corporate events.
Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort also has two restaurants: La Cocina, with family-style Mexican and Caribbean choices in a casual atmosphere and The Grill at I-26, featuring signature steaks, fresh seafood and tropical fare in an oceanfront setting.
One of the resort’s top attractions is Cenote Spa. Cenotes are considered energy centers with waters that contain high concentrations of minerals and nutrients that provide healing benefits. This is the inspiration for the spa, which aims to provide exceptional benefits to everyone who enters it. Therapeutic treatments help attendees achieve balance, tranquility, rest and rejuvenation.
The resort also offers an array of recreational options, including swimming in the lap pool or the infinity pools that overlook the beach; working out in the fitness room; and relaxing on the beach. The Teen Arcade features pingpong, foosball, snacks, arcade games, and movies and games for electronic devices. The property’s kids’ club (Camp Hyatt) designed for a younger crowd, offers games, crafts and enjoyable educational activities.
