Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Claim to Fame: Class and style

FAM means FAMOUS, dah-ling, in this aggregation of L.A., Beverly Hills, West Hollywood (WeHo), Culver City, Santa Monica and more. Luxury and living large is the lifestyle. “Let’s do lunch!” is the favorite phrase, which is fortunate because great restaurants—high, low and in between—abound.

Petersen Automotive Museum, a paen to Southern California car culture with a gleaming collection of the world’s coolest wheels—Hollywood cars, race cars, vintage cars and more—recently completed an extensive $90 million renovation and won the 2017 American Architecture Award. Nearby is Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the largest art museum in the West. Private group tours and dining can be booked at both venues.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is building the world’s premier movie museum in the 1930s landmark May Company building on the Miracle Mile at Wilshire and Fairfax boulevards. The Renzo Pianodesigned museum will feature a 1,000-seat theater and six stories of dynamic spaces, including more than 50,000 sq. ft. of immersive exhibition galleries and special event spaces. The museum is scheduled to open in 2019.

Magnifique is the word for the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, a luxury hotel that melds French savoir faire with Hollywood star glam. Choose from the 295 elegant accommodations, and design your perfect meeting or event in the 22,000 sq. ft. of contemporary meeting space. To mellow and indulge, head for the glorious, 5,000-square-foot SoSpa.
