The largest airline in Finland has announced plans to install in-flight Wi-Fi on most of its wide-body and narrow-body planes.
Finnair’s board of directors approved an investment plan for the installation, which is scheduled to begin this fall with Finnair’s new A350XWB, the first A350 to be flown by a European airline. This will be followed by Wi-Fi installations on Finnair’s Airbus A330 and European short-haul Airbus fleet in 2016. All installations are to be completed by 2018.
Wi-Fi service will enable the airline to offer a variety of new options to customers, including additional in-flight entertainment. Finnair hasn’t determined the provider or the technology that will be used for the Wi-Fi service.
