Mark Wahlberg wants Martin Scorsese to turn Boardwalk Empire into feature film

There are rumors that the hit HBO television series “Boardwalk Empire,” which recently concluded a five-season run, may be headed to the big screen. The popular crime drama, set in Atlantic City during the Prohibition era, is a fictionalized take on the life of racketeer bootlegger/politician Enoch “Nucky” Johnson. It starred actor Steve Buscemi.

Hollywood insider Mark Wahlberg, who worked on the TV series as a producer, wants to turn “Boardwalk Empire” into a movie, and would like to see Martin Scorsese direct it. Scorsese directed the pilot episode of “Boardwalk Empire” and was listed as one of its executive producers.
