The expansive Universal Orlando Resort complex has space for every kind of event possible, from small boardrooms tucked away in its four hotels to a 41,503-square-foot ballroom. In addition to Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the resort features Universal CityWalk entertainment district and a combined 250,000 sq. ft. of indoor event space.
Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will be the newest addition to the Universal Orlando Resort portfolio when it opens in summer 2016. The upscale Caribbean-themed property will feature 131,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and 1,000 guest rooms. A covered walkway will connect Loews Sapphire Falls to Loews Royal Pacific Resort, creating more than 270,000 sq. ft. of flexible function space between the two properties. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel offers an additional 750 guest rooms and 42,000 sq. ft. of event space.
- Expansion is underway to add 56,330 sq. ft. of event space by June. The addition will include four breakout rooms and a 35,995-square-foot ballroom. When combined with existing space, Lowes Royal Pacific will total 141,330 sq. ft.
- The property’s 1,000 guest rooms are also being renovated. Seven restaurants and lounges give guests lots of dining and entertainment options.
- The renovation of all 650 guest rooms was completed in February, reflecting the brand’s music emphasis. Artwork in the new guest rooms takes literal components of music such as drumsticks and speakers and turns them into multicolored creations.
- The pet-friendly hotel has 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and a 12,000-square-foot pool with underwater music. Groups also can utilize 140,000 sq. ft. of function space at the nearby Hard Rock Cafe and Hard Rock Live, which are part of Universal CityWalk.
“We are a complete destination. Once you are on our property, we have shopping, restaurants and movie theaters—basically everything you need. We are inside a theme park, but if that’s not important to you, you will never notice that the theme parks are there.” –Gustavo Sanchez, national accounts director in charge of meetings and events for Universal Orlando Resort.
